The Pro Bono Week Organizing Committee, which brings together LEDGE, domestic and international law firms, and nonprofit organizations, will host Pro Bono Week in Tokyo 2026 from Monday, November 2 to Friday, November 6, 2026. The event aims to raise awareness of pro bono work—activities through which lawyers and other professionals use their expertise to serve the public good.
Four sessions hosted at law firms across Tokyo will explore the current state and future of pro bono work, refugee support, environmental issues, and legal matters affecting nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations (NPOs and NGOs). The program will feature examples of pro bono work in practice, panel discussions, and a networking event connecting lawyers with NPOs and NGOs.
We welcome those already involved in pro bono work, and especially anyone who has yet to take part but is curious to learn more. Legal trainees, law school students, and undergraduates are also welcome, as are NPOs and NGOs seeking legal support.

LEDGE’s work on Pro Bono Week in Tokyo 2026 is supported by a grant from the United States-Japan Foundation.
