LEDGE submitted a briefing paper to the UN International Independent Expert Mechanism to Advance Racial Justice and Equality in the context of Law Enforcement (EMLER), in response to the call for inputs for the preparation of their report on “access to justice, accountability and redress for excessive use of force and other human rights violations by law enforcement officials.”
Our submission focuses on the widespread practice of police stops and questioning based on racial profiling in Japan and identifies barriers to justice, accountability and redress for affected individuals and communities.
